Radon Facts:

 

• Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas released in rock, earth and water and can build up to dangerous levels in the home.

• Radon gas is odorless and invisible, and the only way you can determine if your home is safe is by testing.

• Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for nonsmokers and the #2 cause for lung cancer for smokers. The EPA estimates that more than 20,000 deaths per year are caused by high radon levels.

• Radon is measured in picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L). The Surgeon General and EPA recommend that homes be mitigated if the radon level is at or above 4 picocuries.
